The Battle for Indiana, an esports tournament in its second year hosted by Butler University, will start competition tonight!
This will be the second year of the Battle for Indiana, started in the fall of 2020. This year, 11 collegiate esports programs across the state will send a total of 40 esports teams made up of more than 175 players to compete in 4 different titles – League of Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch, and Valorant.
The event will be divided into two weekends. First, on November 5-6, the Round Robin Weekend will feature all 40 teams in a round robin for seeding; there are 8 teams each in the League of Legends, Overwatch, and Valorant competitions, and two divisions of 8 and 7 each for Rocket League. After the round robin, November 12-13’s Tournament Weekend will feature the top 4 LoL/OW/VAL teams, plus the top 2 RL teams from each division, in a double-elimination tournament to determine the best team in Indiana in each title!
Tonight features the first three rounds of Rocket League and the first four rounds of Valorant play, starting at 5pm ET. The rest of the round robin, including all League of Legends and Overwatch competition, will take place tomorrow. Butler University will be fielding one team in League of Legends, two each in Overwatch and Rocket League, and one in Valorant, all fighting for the chance to advance to next weekend!
